Invisalign® Clear Braces

invisalign in rosevilleWhat is Invisalign clear aligners?

You need to wear braces, but the idea haunts you. You envision all those metal brackets and wires prominently announcing your imperfect smile to everyone you meet. Perhaps you’ve known someone who wore conventional braces before and just couldn’t stand the idea of wearing them yourself.

The problem is that you know one thing is certain, you desire and need a straighter smile. But, how do you achieve that without all the metal? The answer lies with the all new Invisalign® clear braces at Ace Dental in Roseville.

What are Invisalign® braces?

Invisalign® clear braces are clear dental aligners designed to fit snugly against your teeth and are almost invisible when worn.

How are Invisalign® clear braces different from conventional braces?

Conventional metal braces contain metal brackets and wires. This hardware can sometimes prod and poke at the inside of your cheeks. Thus, conventional braces can often be uncomfortable. There are things you can do to adjust this, like adding wax. But, wax can also be messy.

invisalign in roseville caInvisalign® has no brackets or wires that can prod or poke. Instead, you will receive a pair of clear, plastic aligners. To date, many successful treatments have been completed and experienced by many satisfied patients.

The manner of your treatment between Invisalign® and conventional braces also differs. Without metal hardware, there are no brackets and wires to tighten. Instead, you will receive a new set of clear aligners to help your teeth adjust to their new positions.

How you wear the aligners also differs from conventional braces. Like conventional braces, Invisalign® is generally worn 24 hours daily. Yet, there is an exception to this rule that does not apply to the conventional braces. You can and should remove your clear aligners when you eat and when you brush or floss your teeth. During those times, you should remove them to prevent damage to the aligners. Conventional braces can not be removed except by your dentist.

Are Invisalign® clear braces for anyone?

Teens and adults with mild to moderate dental alignment needs make the best Invisalign® candidates.

Invisalign® is not recommended for use on more challenging dental malocclusions, or for children whose teeth and jaws are still changing and developing. Patients who have severe dental problems need more intense orthodontic therapy. Some of these more challenging situations include the following:

  • Severe overcrowding of the teeth;
  • Severe spacing or tooth gap;
  • Severe twisting or tipping of the teeth; and
  • Severe overbites, underbites, and cross-bites.

What is the process to get Invisalign® clear braces?

During your first exam, Dr. Sibia will take three dimensional impressions of your teeth. This is what the dental lab will use to create your invisible aligners. The number of aligners the lab creates for you will depend on your specific orthodontic problem. Invisalign® is designed to reposition your teeth over time according to your treatment plan. Dr. Sibia will check your progress at each visit, usually about every two or three weeks. You will then receive the next aligner in the series. Each new aligner fits snugly over your teeth.

How long do I need to wear my Invisalign® clear braces?

The length of your treatment will depend on your unique situation. Treatment time varies from one patient to the next. The average length of treatment generally lasts between 18 and 24 months. Sometimes the dentist may use a shorter or longer treatment period to achieve your best results.

Do Invisalign® clear braces cost the same as conventional braces?

Invisalign® clear braces cost a little more than conventional braces, but generally not significantly more. Often the cost for Invisalign® falls between 20% to 30% more than conventional braces. The cost often depends on your area and the type of orthodontic need you have. If your dental problem is mild to moderate, the benefits often outweigh the added cost.

Where can I get Invisalign® braces?

Few people look forward to the idea of wearing braces. That’s because conventional braces were formerly the only type of braces available. A mouth full of metal brackets and wires is not the preferred choice for orthodontic patients.

With its clear, plastic aligners, Invisalign® offers effective treatment with added comfort. If you have a mild to moderate orthodontic problem, Invisalign® can help. Come visit us at Ace Dental Roseville and reclaim the smile you desire. Dr. Sibia is ready to help you reach your dental goals.
